Integrated Family Medicine Residency - Christ Health

RESIDENCY

Integrated Family Medicine Residency

The goal of the integrated residency is to strengthen the primary care workforce, improve healthcare access in underserved communities, and enhance fourth year medical student education. The initiative aims to increase the number of primary care physicians dedicated to at-risk communities by exposing students to the St Vincent’s East Family Medicine Residency at Christ Health and supporting them along this path. It also seeks to significantly augment fourth-year medical education while mentoring and equipping the next generation of medical leaders. Additionally, the program will reduce fourth-year medical student stress and debt burden, by helping students transition more smoothly into the St Vincent’s East Family Medicine Residency. Selected IR students will also be eligible for a $10,000 scholarship.

Integrated Residency students spend their entire fourth year within the Christ Health and St Vincent’s East Family Medicine Residency networks and register for the Match through the ERAS/NRMP system. They are encouraged to apply and interview widely and broadly. If students maintain a professional demeanor and pass Step 2 and/or Comlex Level 2 the program commits to ranking them highly, providing a clear and supportive pathway into the St Vincent’s East Family Medicine Residency. If any concerns arise, faculty commit to notifying IR students by mid-September, so students can maximize residency options. IR students may withdraw from the program at any time.
